6 April 2011

Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.

As Robin Williams said Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!" It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!

Thank Gaia for April as I roast in an enclosed office and dream spring and summer dreams of love and dance and rolling in the grass, looking at the bright blue sky and falling in love with life again.

For tVC we have a mixed month of varied events and things to attend that I will outline to you here. Friday the 8th April sees Stuart’s Party; a regular occurrence on the calendar, indeed yearly, as it is his birthday and, like last year, Whitstable folk of all persuasions will be united by a love of Stuart and music and throw our best sardine shapes as we cram into a small house and party till dawn. I look forward to taking lots of pictures and writing a blog review on this the second it is over...

Friday the 8th April sees Jelly Botty Oochie Oochie himself in hospital for his tendon operation. Straight forward he says but he’s going to miss the party so good luck with that Louie and we all send our love look forward to seeing your bass fret finger back in action again real soon.

Saturday 9th April is tvcabbaged at The Smack in Whitstable with guest the very lovely Dan Dantix from Margate's Unite Posse spinning some deep and dark delights for the sploshers.

Saturday the 9th April is the lovely Becky Durham’s 40th Birthday celebs. This will involve all her friends and anyone who knows her or has ever met her – yes, that’s you - meeting at The Wall Tavern in Whitstable at 8pm and taking it from there. Warning; may involve the ingestion and imbibement of alcohol. Wear your willies.

Saturday 16th April is the historic opening of the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate. Kick off is at 10am and the entrance is the magical word ‘free’. Be there to witness.

Sunday 24th April is the Kerfuffle All dayer at The Jamm in Brixton. Our favourite tiny dive sees the return of the now legendary yearly Kerfuffle all-dayer. From 3pm delight in the highlights; Magnus Asberg guests; Liz Edwards & Rochester are the Rezzies.

Friday 29th April, a free bank holiday for some reason, woohoo, sees, no not Olly Murs at The Winter gardens, but he is playing there, but Unite - The Art of Music at Margate Old Town. This is an outdoor all-dayer, phew, again? Always means you can get home early? Variour housey rumblings going on including tVC DJ’s freeloading away as usual and Ferdinand and Hank Banister and the rest of the Unite Crew.
